MATA GARIS EXHIBITION by Edi Bonetski
Superlative Gallery, the first world-class digital gallery pioneer in Southeast Asia, is currently presenting an art exhibition entitled “Mata Garis”. This exhibition, held in Bali, highlights the work of artist Edi Bonetski, known outside the mainstream of art for his tendency to evoke the Art Brut movement.
Taking place from January 5th to February 5th, 2024, Superlative Gallery invites visitors to explore and absorb each of Edi Bonetski’s works as an artist considered to bring the beauty of Art Brut to life. The Art Brut movement is known for its freedom from general rules in art education, thereby fostering pure personal artistic expression.
This exhibition is particularly intriguing because Superlative Gallery carries the vision that art has the power to embrace new perspectives on life, the complexity of cities, and the essence of diversity. Edi Bonetski, with his dedication to artistic expression, is expected to provide visitors to this gallery with a new perspective.
As a respected figure in the art world, his presence recognizes the value and potential of art promoted by the “Mata Garis” exhibition at Superlative Gallery. “Edi Bonetski is present at Superlative Gallery. A painter or artist whom we don’t usually understand through big dictionaries, let alone the aesthetics that are scattered here and there. He loves to roar, scream, writhe, and claw at anything according to his inner whisper,” said Tommy F. Awuy.
“Reading Edi Bonetski’s works, we find that letters float around, chasing, jumping, bumping, and with a certain enthusiasm, we happily follow the flow,” he continued. The “Mata Garis” exhibition is not just a visual art offering but also a forum for the appreciation of various fine arts. Superlative Gallery hopes to inspire critical thinking and contribute to the development of art in Indonesia.
As part of the exhibition series, discussions will involve figures in the field of Indonesian arts such as Bill Mohdor and Sudjud Dartanto. Edi Bonetski will also participate in the discussion to share his personal thoughts and experiences in creating unique and inspiring works of art.
“Superlative Gallery provides new enrichment for me in terms of aesthetics, color, body, and behavior in managing the purpose of a performance called an exhibition. Hopefully, this can continue to be a supporting system in the pursuit of art and culture in the universe, like the spirit of vivere veni versum versus vision in Superlative,” said Edi Bonetski.
The “Mata Garis” exhibition at Superlative Gallery is an opportunity for art lovers to delve into the world of artistic expression presented by an artist who dares to cross borders.
